Innovation
Swedish Cares about innovation. New developments in health care are not only exciting but they save lives. We have more research at Swedish Medical Center than any other healthcare provider in the region. Last year alone we committed more than $11 million to research. We also invest in the most cutting edge treatments, including gamma knife, cyber knife and telestroke technology.
Our commitment to pioneering new treatments has led us to become the region’s leading health care provider using robotics, with more DaVinci robots than any other provider in the region.
We aren’t just following emerging trends in health care innovation, we are leading them, with such developments as Seattle Radio Surgery Center which provides the region’s most advanced cancer care, and the Specialty Clinic, the region’s only provider of free specialty dental care for low-income and underinsured/uninsured adults.
This innovation extends beyond how we provide service into how we manage health care operations. This is more imperative now than ever as the New Normal of healthcare is forcing everyone to make significant changes. To meet the increasing demands on healthcare service while we see a decrease in funding, we have sought out strategic affiliations with other leading health care providers, we’ve introduced new management technology into our operations that makes us more efficient, and we’ve cultivated a practice for harnessing the ideas of our deeply experienced staff.
We also are innovating the way we treat our patients, with a Patient-Centered Medical Home Model that allows patients an unlimited access to healthcare team for a fixed rate. And it's available for both insured and uninsured patients.
After all, while we remain committed to staying ahead of the cutting edge, innovation isn’t just about the latest and the greatest. Sometimes it’s about finding new ways to use what you already have.
