Community

Swedish Cares about community. We have been deeply woven into the fabric of our region for more than 100 years with a mandate to take care of everyone who comes through our doors, regardless of ability to pay.

Swedish has evolved in partnership with public sector leaders and we’ve developed commitments through leadership in Olympia to provide a vehicle for reaching the community with needed health care services.

Last year alone we served patients through our charity care service with treatments that included everything from  the flu to heart surgery amounting to more than $35 million in service. That commitment to treating the uninsured includes a 4,000 foot clinic where physicians see patients at no charge.

Our commitment to community extends beyond our doors, as well. Through our partnership with state leaders, we are able to provide community health activities and outreach, education and subsidies for Medicare. Combined, these community benefits last year exceeded $134 million dollars and includes specific programs such as: Global to Local and African-American Community Outreach.

We believe commitment to community means not just providing top-notch healthcare service, but providing it in the neighborhoods where people live.
